	Were you ever bored before or after a Junkyard Love gig? Your own fault! You should have played chess with Billy Blaze. Rumour has it that he's a very good player. What happened to Junkyard Love? Depends on who you ask... Chris' European tour agent says that Chris and Junkyard Love have split. Darryl Jensen, bass player of Junkyard Love, says that '1997 is the year Chris takes a vacation from Junkyard Love... Junkyard Love is a magic band, but we had very strong personalities... a lot of compromise is necessary to keep peace. (poor Chris)' Pat Thomas says (and I perfectly agree with him): 'I don't think that personalities had much to do with it - the most simple and direct reason I could give is that after making a bunch of albums with the same people and a bunch of tours with the same people, it was simply time for Chris to expand and change his sound by playing with different people. Chris still loves all those guys and you should not be surprised to find some of them or all of them on stage or in the studio with Chris in the future - just not anytime soon. I think everyone should relax about this issue and topic - it's not the breakup of The Beatles - it's just a man wanting to play with some other musicians for awhile (a change will do you good) ' So Billy Blaze is currently playing drums for a wonderful L.A. band called 'Bloom' and sometimes with 'Viva Saturn'. John Thoman is playing with 'Viva Saturn' and others. Darryl Jensen started a band called 'The Bell Starlings' which according to his own words is beginning to get very popular so he probably won't be playing with Cacavas anymore.

A Mystery

According to Steve Wynn, 'Anonymous' was going to have 14 great new songs on it. But if I count correctly there are only 13. So what happened to the 14th song? Some more information: the lost song should feature Steve Wynn on lead, Jane Scarpantoni on cello and Rich Gilbert on pedal. Could it be that Normal is planning to release a single? Doesn't Steve Wynn know how to count??

• The Cello on 'Let you down' (on 'Pale, Blonde, Hell') so beautifully played by Giant Sand's Joey Burns was from a melody I tried to make the bass part originally...we decided to make it Cello... I called my good friend Susan for her cello... Joey happened to be in town... I hummed the part to him and he took it far above the clouds!

• 'Dwarf Star' was recorded in 24 hours at a studio called Control Center... We ate a lot of Korean snack crackers and drank strange Asian carbonated beverages from the Korean market (Hi-Lo) next door. John Thoman could hear all of us (Chris, Billy Price, Robert Lloyd and I) in his headphones, but we couldn't hear him! We didn't know what he'd played until Eric mixed it... Neither Billy, John, Robert, nor I were there... so we didn't hear John's parts until the Record came out!

• The correct title for the fifth song on 'New Improved Pain' is 'Guns 'R' Weeds' (and not 'Guns 'N' Weeds as the booklet says) named after a too popular chain of childrens toy stores - 'Toys 'R' Us'. The implication being that today's young American kids see guns as toys. Chris sees kids as our future's harvest.
  'If kids are the crops...(then) Guns are the weeds.'

• 'Bellyfull of Bullets' (on 'New Improved Pain'was recorded in a dusty garage studio in a desolate nowhere's-ville part of Arizona... the owner was a frightening image to behold... we were scared and you can hear it!

• I'm playing the 'blistering fast' (Ha!) Telecaster solo at the end of 'Flamethrower' (also on New Improved Pain)

• On 'Weight Around' (again on New Improved Pain) Producer Eric Westfall filled beer bottles with water, 'tuned' them and we dragged some poor assistant into the studio and we all played the melody on these wet bottles... and got very very dizzy... We decided to call it the 'Empty Bottle Choir' after Chris' Classic 'Empty Bottle Trail' from Album 1...

• Everybody in Junkyard Love met and fell in love with a European girl. and two are/will be married...one divorce...crazy.
